Congratulations to 2010 Officers
Message from Immediate Past President Lazarin
Dear MBAWNY:
Feliz Ano Nuevo and Welcome Home to those of you who, like myself, traveled during the Christmas holiday. Thank you for a spectacular 2009!
I am so privileged to have served as the 2009 President of the Minority Bar Association of Western New York, Inc. It was a great honor to work with so many of you and to get to know so many more of you. Thank you for making 2009 a great year for MBAWNY and for continuing to devote your time and attention to our growing organization.
I am especially grateful to Tasha E. Moore and Stephanie Saunders, along with Dean Mutua, Dean Wiley-Upshaw, Rita Hubbard-Robinson, the wonderful folks from the Buffalo School District and our many Task Force members, who worked to create and establish MBAWNY’s Recruitment & Retention Task Force. Thank you for your vision and your innovation. We welcome the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo and the many stakeholders in our community that have come together to support the Task Force and it’s worthy goals.
I had a wonderful Executive Board and extend my sincerest thanks to them for their support of new ideas and new endeavors. I am eternally grateful for those of you that worked to make things happen this year. Hon. Lenora Foote-Beavers, you worked so extensively on our CLE functions, thank you for your planning efforts and for graciously continuing in this role for 2010. Leah Bouquard & Joe Hanna – you were essential to my success this year. Thank you to David Hayes, David Edmunds and Oliver Young, you are the backbone of our organization. Special thanks to Booker Washington, who continues to support us and the Foundation. Thank you to Hon. E. Jeannette Ogden, Hon. Craig Hannah, Hon. Betty Calvo-Torres, Hon. Lisa Bloch-Rodwin, WBASNY and the many members of our judiciary – for attending our functions and for supporting me individually. Special thanks to our Directors, Minryu Sarah Kim and Roxanne Mendez-Johnson, for being such a help to me and for continuing to serve the 2010 Executive Board.
